A Big Decision
For when you feel: which way, crossroads, need wisdom, should I take it
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you.

The list of pros and cons sits on the table, evened out again, deciding nothing. You have turned this choice over so many times its edges are worn smooth. Two promises meet you at the crossroads. James says wisdom is given liberally to anyone who asks, and that God "upbraideth not," meaning He does not roll His eyes at the request; you will not annoy Him by asking twice, or twenty times. And the psalmist hears God say, "I will guide thee with mine eye," the way a parent steers a child across a crowded room with a glance. That close. So ask boldly, then do the ordinary things wisdom uses, Scripture, wise counsel, honest prayer, time. If both doors honor God, take a step. He guides moving feet better than parked ones.

A prayer for this moment
Father, I lack wisdom and You give it liberally, so I'm asking. Guide me with Your eye, order my steps, and give me peace to move. Amen.
