When It's Good

An Ordinary Good Day

For when you feel: good day, unexpected blessing, life is sweet right now, just happy

This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24 · BSB
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.
James 1:17 · BSB

The MinuteSermon

Nothing dramatic happened today. The coffee tasted right, the kids laughed at breakfast, the sun did that thing through the trees, and you noticed. Do not let it pass unattributed. James traces every good gift back above, which means an ordinary good Tuesday has a return address. The psalmist goes further. "This is the day which the LORD hath made," this specific one, handmade, and rejoicing in it is not naivety about the world's pain but plain obedience to the verse. The discipline of joy is tracing gifts back to the Giver while they are still warm in your hands. So interrupt the ordinary, right in the middle of it, and say it out loud: thank You. This one was good.
