Fighting Temptation & Addiction

For when you feel: tempted, addiction, can't stop, stronghold, fighting a habit

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 · BSB

The MinuteSermon

The pull rarely announces itself. It arrives late, when you are tired and alone, whispering that you are uniquely broken and past helping. Scripture disarms that lie first. What you face is "common to man"; you are a human being inside the oldest fight there is, and grace has been meeting people in it for a very long time. Then Paul hands over two promises. God is faithful to limit the load, never "above that ye are able" with His strength counted in. And God builds exits, "a way to escape" made alongside the temptation itself. Sometimes the door looks like leaving the room or saying the prayer. Often, especially with addiction, it looks like people: a group, a counselor, a friend who knows. Taking the door is not weakness. It is the plan.

A prayer for this moment

Faithful God, in the moment of pull, open my eyes to the exit You built, and give me the legs to take it. Break this hold, day by day. Amen.
